Job summary

YMCA of Greater Providence is hiring a Lifeguard at the East Side location in Providence, RI. Shifts are Monday–Friday, 4:45am–11:00am, at $18.00 per hour.

The Lifeguard monitors swimming areas, enforces pool rules and contributes to a safe and enjoyable YMCA environment. Responsibilities include responding to emergencies with rescue and first aid, maintaining pool cleanliness and chemical balance, opening/closing procedures, reporting safety issues, supporting aquatics instructors, attending

Qualifications

• Monitor health and safety of pool users and enforce rules.
• Maintain pool cleanliness and monitor chemical levels (pH and chlorine).
• Adhere to opening/closing procedures and equipment storage.
• Report maintenance or safety issues to Aquatics Director.
• Support aquatics instructors during classes.
• Attend staff meetings and represent YMCA values (caring, honesty, respect, responsibility).
• Arrive 15 minutes early and stay focused for surveillance of swimmers.
• Work cooperatively with staff, volunteers and members to foster team spirit.
