Job summary

Cone Health Medical Group is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and improvements of EHR data applications across the organization. You will ensure modules are coded, tested, and deployed so clinicians access reliable software.

The role focuses on performance, security, and scalable data pipelines using Azure, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark SQL, and Python/PySpark.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in database engineering or related field.
• Healthcare data experience is a plus, especially with EHR systems.
• Platform-centric certification required within 6 months; extensions up to 12 months may be allowed to meet requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitors database performance, scalability, and security to ensure proper operation.
• Examines existing database designs and determines updates and integration needs for new designs.
• Reviews architecture plans to refine performance and functionality within the warehouse structure.
• Designs database applications such as interfaces, data transfer mechanisms, and data partitions to support access to the generic database structure.
• Mentors lower-level data engineers to build a capable data engineering team.
• Defines objectives and approaches to assignments; recommends changes to leadership to drive innovation and efficiency.
• Reviews policies and workflows to ensure compliance and improve practices; performs other duties as assigned.

The Database Engineer Senior manages the design, analysis, and improvement of Electronic Health Record (EHR) software applications for the organization. Working under minimal supervision, the Database Engineer Senior ensures software modules are encoded, tested, debugged, and installed so that EHR users can quickly and intuitively access applications.

Essential Job Function:

• Monitors database performance, scalability and security, resolving any issues to ensure databases are operating properly.


• Examines existing database design and determines necessary updates and integration requirements of new designs.


• Reviews plans for architecture updates and new systems with existing warehouse structure to refine performance/functionality.


• Designs database applications such as interfaces, data transfer mechanisms, and data partitions to support access of the generic database structure.


• Guides lower-level professionals to ensure a capable and proficient data engineering workforce.


• Determines objectives and approaches to assignments and recommends changes to leadership to drive innovation, improve processes, and make strategic recommendations.


• Reviews existing policies, procedures, and workflow to evaluate the effectiveness of existing practices, identify areas for improvement, and ensure compliance.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Required: Bachelor's Degree.

Experience:

Licensure/Certification/Listing:
