Job summary

Concept Solutions, LLC is seeking a Database Engineer to support a DoW modernization program. This role focuses on PostgreSQL databases in AWS RDS, including migrations, tuning, backups, and reliability improvements.

The candidate will collaborate with platform engineering to ensure CDC configurations and scalable database solutions that sustain production operations and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience administering PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
• Hands-on experience with database migrations and performance tuning.
• Experience with Amazon RDS or equivalent managed database services.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• Experience with Debezium or PostgreSQL logical replication.
• Familiarity with AWS GovCloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute database migrations, performance tuning, and optimization activities.
• Verify database backups and support improvements to database availability and reliability, including a single‑AZ instance.
• Support the platform engineering team with projection schemas and CDC configuration.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure database solutions support modernization and ongoing production operations.

Job Description

Concept Solutions, LLC (CS) is seeking a Database Engineer – PostgreSQL (AWS RDS) to support a mission‑critical application modernization program for a Department of War (DoW) customer.

This initiative will modernize and simplify access across a portfolio of production applications by creating a unified platform with single sign‑on, a common user interface, and a repeatable approach for integrating applications. The program will also maintain and sustain existing applications to ensure operational continuity throughout modernization.

Responsibilities

• Manage application-level database administration for three PostgreSQL databases hosted on Amazon RDS.
• Plan and execute database migrations, performance tuning, and optimization activities.
• Verify database backups and support improvements to database availability and reliability, including a single‑Availability Zone (AZ) instance.
• Support the platform engineering team with projection schemas and change‑data‑capture (CDC) configuration.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure database solutions support application modernization and ongoing production operations.

Location & Travel

Location: Remote

Schedule: Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with core hours of 9:00 a.m. The team operates in two‑week sprints, with a customer demonstration each sprint.

Travel: 0–10%, within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance. An active Secret clearance or higher.
