A high-performing alternative investment firm is seeking an experienced database and platform engineer to support the architecture, automation, and reliability of critical data systems used across front-office and enterprise technology teams.

This individual will help modernize and scale the organization's database ecosystem, improve platform automation, and optimize performance across a broad set of data technologies supporting trading, analytics, and operational workloads.

The role offers meaningful ownership, direct impact on business-critical infrastructure, and exposure to a sophisticated technology environment within financial markets.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, maintain, and optimize enterprise‑grade database platforms supporting latency‑sensitive and high‑throughput workloads
• Develop automation tooling and deployment frameworks to improve platform scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues across database environments, including query optimization and indexing strategy
• Partner with application, infrastructure, and data engineering teams to design scalable database solutions
• Contribute to architecture decisions around platform modernization and next‑generation data tooling
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions across database and infrastructure layers
• Support release management and deployment processes through CI/CD and version control best practices

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in database engineering, data infrastructure, or platform engineering
• Strong hands‑on experience administering and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server environments
• Proficiency with scripting/programming for automation, including Python, PowerShell, and SQL
• Experience building infrastructure automation and repeatable deployment workflows
• Deep understanding of relational database design, performance optimization, and schema management
• Familiarity with Git‑based development workflows and CI/CD tooling
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical stakeholders

Preferred Experience

• Prior exposure to capital markets, trading, or investment management technology environments
• Experience with modern analytical/data lake technologies and distributed query engines
• Familiarity with additional database technologies beyond MSSQL
• Exposure to event streaming / distributed messaging platforms
• Linux systems administration and general infrastructure knowledge
• Experience with containerized environments and orchestration frameworks
