Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Senior Database Infrastructure Lead to direct development and support of the bank's database technologies. You will guide project planning, problem resolution, and cross‑functional collaboration while implementing secure, scalable data solutions.

The role requires leading technical teams on projects, upgrading systems, and providing consultative guidance across tech and business units.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Database Technologies OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Database Technologies
  • Strong expertise in TLS, HTTPS, certificates, PKI, and encryption protocols
  • Hands-on experience with Delphix data masking and virtualization
  • Deep understanding of relational databases and data classification/masking strategies
  • Understanding of dynamic data masking
  • Experience with cloud environments and Delphix deployment in Azure or AWS
  • Experience integrating security controls into CI/CD and DevOps pipelines
  • Proficiency with scripting/automation (Python, PowerShell, SQL, etc.)
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
  • Familiar with ServiceNow and Jira service requests

Responsibilities

  • Consultation - Provides consultative direction and technical advice on the Bank’s software, hardware, and related database infrastructure.
  • Supports all areas of Technology and Operations in addressing reliability, availability, scalability, security, and recovery.
  • Provide on-call support to ensure availability and reliability of database infrastructure.
  • May be asked to act as a team lead and mentor/train team members.
  • Analysis - Evaluates the performance of existing and proposed systems components for technology, operations, and business needs.
  • Analyzes hardware platforms, operating systems, applications and data assets.
  • Gives insight into new systems software, hardware, and applications.
  • Investigates solutions for enhanced data recovery.
  • Technical Support - Supports reliability, availability, scalability, security and recovery of systems.
  • Configures, installs and upgrades systems; manages technical projects.
  • Resolves complex technical problems and automates tasks for efficiency.
  • Technical Expertise - Maintains knowledge base to consult and execute on technical matters.
  • Communicates technical information across platforms.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities:

Consultation - Provides consultative direction and technical advice on to the Bank’s software, hardware, and related database infrastructure. Provide on-call support to ensure availability and reliability of database infrastructure. May be asked to act as a team lead. Team leads may be asked to assign tasks and mentor/train team members.

Analysis - Evaluates the performance of existing and proposed systems components in delivering solutions for technology, operations, and business needs. Analyzes hardware platforms, operating systems, applications and data assets. Provides key insight into new systems software, hardware, and applications. Investigates solutions for enhanced data recovery.

Technical Support - Supports all areas of Technology and Operations in addressing reliability, availability, scalability, and security and recovery. Provides support for technical systems that execute business applications at a high level of ability and expertise. Configures, installs and upgrades systems. Manages technical projects and assists management with other business initiatives. Resolves complex technical problems and failures, and automates tasks for improved efficiencies.

Technical Expertise - Maintains a strong knowledge base in order to effectively consult and execute others on technical matters. Communicates effective and clear technical information across platforms.

Position Specific Skills
  • Understanding of relational database constructs
  • High availability design of databases
  • Structured query language
  • Familiarity with various tools or utilities used in supporting database platforms (Commvault, TOAD, DBVisualizer, Idera, Solarwinds, etc)
  • Design of databases, structured query language, and familiarity of multiple database platforms (for example, SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Netezza, etc.)
  • Experience in supporting environments with 24x7 on-call in a corporate workplace is a plus as is experience in the financial sector
