Job description
Duties May Include:
Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure database solutions to support mission-critical applications
Collaborate with cross-functional teams during all phases of implementation including requirements, analysis, design, build/configuration, and deployment
Configure and maintain database environments, including backup, restore, high-availability, and disaster recovery strategies
Monitor and tune database performance using industry-standard tools and methodologies (query optimization, indexing strategies)
Implement data security measures, access controls, and compliance standards across environments
Automate routine database loading, maintenance, and monitoring tasks to improve efficiency
Provide technical guidance and best practices for database design, migration, and integration projects
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, GIS, or related STEM field
5+ years of hands-on experience in database design, administration, and optimization for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP HANA
Familiarity with database design principles, data loading techniques, backup and recovery solutions, performance monitoring and tuning, and security
Scripting skills in SQL and Python for automation and data workflows
Knowledge of Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows environments
Exposure to geospatial concepts such as spatial data types, coordinate systems, and spatial indexing
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers
US Citizenship required
Active or current (within two years of active) Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabases
CompTIA Security+ certification
Knowledge of integrating GIS with other enterprise systems
One or more industry-standard IT certifications (Esri, CompTIA, Microsoft, Amazon, PostgreSQL, or Oracle)
