Job summary

Davis Unlimited Information Technologies, Inc (DUIT) seeks veteran Database Engineers to design, implement, and optimize database systems for complex IT projects. You will work on relational and object-oriented databases, data storage, and cloud-based solutions, translating project requirements into scalable data structures.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of experience, DoD IA Level II compliance, and a degree in IT.

Qualifications

• At least ten (10) years' experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
• Seven years' experience in developing SQL server database architecture is required.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field; four extra years may substitute.
• LENEL Certified Expert (LCE) in databases required within six months.

Responsibilities

• Supports database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval and data flow analysis.
• Develops relational and/or object-oriented databases and loading software.
• Translates requirements into usable database schemas and queries; updates/creates ad hoc queries.
• Leads development of databases and database storage using cloud methodologies.
• Oversees messaging protocols and integration (e.g., Java Messaging, RabbitMQ).
• Stays current with new technologies and recommends improvements.

We are looking for the best and brightest database engineer(s) with 10 years or more experience to join our winning and innovative information technology team!

Provides technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis. Develops relational and/or Object Oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software. Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design. Responsible for developing a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls. The Database Engineer works primarily at the front end of the lifecycle-requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC). Develops requirements from a project's inception to its conclusion for a particular business and Information Technology (IT) subject matter area (i.e., simple to complex systems). Assist with recommendations for, and analysis and evaluation of systems improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts. Translates a set of requirements and data into a usable document by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros; updates existing queries, creates new ones to manipulate data into a master file; and builds complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies.

What You Will Get to Do:

Database Engineers (DE) shall possess the following capabilities

• Supports the database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis activities
• Supports the development of long and short term requirements for database administration and design

• Directs organization of requirements and data into a usable database schema by directing development of adhoc queries, scripts, macros, updates to existing queries
• Directs the development of complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies
• Oversees development and integration of messaging protocols/services to i.e. Java Messaging protocol, RabbitMQ.
• Stays current with technological developments and makes recommendations for ways to take advantage of new and emerging technology as it relates to database, messaging and software development.
  

Qualifications You Will Bring:

• At least ten (10) years' experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required, of which seven years' is required in developing SQL server database architecture.
• Have DoD 8570 compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II or higher is required.
• A bachelor's degree in an IT discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional database engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
• A certification as a LENEL Ce11ified Expert (LCE) with a concentration in databases is required, obtained within six (6) months of personnel starting on contract.
• General professional years of experience may be substituted for specialized years of experience at a ratio of three (3) years of general experience within an occupation for one (1) year of specialized experience.
• Relevant certifications will be considered equivalent to three (3) months of specialized experience.
  • An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline related to the specific skill will be considered equivalent to eighteen (18) months specialized experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline related to the specific skill will be considered equivalent to three (3) years specialized experience (total equivalency is not cumulative when combined with an Associate’s degree)
  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline related to the specific skill will be considered equivalent to two (2) years specialized experience (up to a total of five (5) years when combined with a Bachelor’s).
  • A Doctorate in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline related to the specific skill will be considered equivalent to two (2) years specialized experience (up to a total of seven (7) years when combined with a Master’s and a Bachelor’s).
