Job summary

Excelity is seeking a Database Engineer to support the next generation Mission Integration System for a government customer. The role involves data management, database engineering, and maintaining database systems within a Production Operations team on-site in Virginia.

Required TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance, a degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, and hands-on experience with Postgres, SQL, and performance tuning. Knowledge of AWS, Elasticsearch, Linux, and Agile is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelors with 5+ years experience or Masters with 3+ years, or PhD with no experience; more years may substitute.
• Experience with Postgres, SQL, and database performance tuning.
• Experience installing application software in an operational environment.
• Experience with Agile, AWS, RDBMS technology, Elasticsearch, Linux.
• DoD IAT Level II certification.
• Position is 100% on site.

Responsibilities

• Database engineering and management for high-volume, multi-format data services.
• Maintain large-scale data management solutions with efficient storage and indexing.
• Update enterprise data models and abstraction layer for new sources.
• Design indexing strategies for ingested data and performance tuning.
• Develop strategy for ongoing performance tuning of databases.

Excelity is seeking a Database Engineer for a project responsible for building the next generation Mission Integration System for an exciting Government customer with a very critical mission. The selected candidate will work within a Production Operations team supporting data management processes, database engineering and management, deploying, maintaining, tuning, and enhancing database systems.

TS/SCI w/ CI Poly

Job Responsibilities:

• Database engineering and management activities associated with high volume, multi-format data management services
• Maintains large-scale data management solutions including developing efficient storage, indexing, and access approaches
• Updates data enterprise architecture models (if needed) and data abstraction layer to enable access to new data sources
• Designs and implements indexing strategies for ingested data.
• Developing a strategy for continuous performance tuning of databases

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience OR a Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience OR A PhD with no experience; an additional 4 years of experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree requirement.
• Experience with Postgres, SQL, and database performance tuning
• Experience installing application software in an operational environment
• Experience with Agile, AWS, RDBMS technology, Elasticsearch, Linux
• DoD IAT Level II certification
• This position is 100% on site

Preferred Qualifications:

• NoSQL technology (Hadoop and/or EMR)
• Familiarity with Graph database technology
• Data modeling experience
