Job summary

Index Analytics LLC invites applications for a Database Engineer to design, administer and optimize cloud-based database services supporting a large federal data warehouse. You will collaborate with Data Engineers, Cloud Architects, DevSecOps, security and analytics teams to manage Snowflake, PostgreSQL and AWS-based environments.

You will implement security, CI/CD, automation and cost-aware tuning, while ensuring reliable data access and scalable storage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field with 8+ years of experience.
• Hands-on Snowflake and PostgreSQL administration in production.
• Experience with AWS services and data warehouse environments.
• Proficient in SQL, performance tuning and cost optimization.
• Python automation and IaC for deployment and validation.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain database schemas, data models, objects and interfaces that support structured and semi-structured data.
• Administer Snowflake and PostgreSQL environments, including user provisioning, role-based access control, row-level security and object permissions.
• Develop, review and deploy DDL and database changes through controlled CI/CD and change-management processes.
• Write and optimize complex SQL; monitor performance, workload utilization, storage and cost; tune queries and database resources.
• Develop Python scripts and infrastructure-as-code components to automate administration, deployment and validation tasks.
• Support integration among databases and AWS services such as S3, Secrets Manager and Lambda.
• Implement database security, auditing, encryption, retention, backup, recovery and continuity controls in partnership with security teams.
• Troubleshoot database access, performance, deployment and production issues; document root cause and corrective action.
• Maintain database standards, architecture documentation, runbooks and Confluence content.
