Job summary

Arcarithm is seeking a Database Administrator to modernize and transform a broad portfolio of enterprise solutions for NASA. You will join a collaborative team working with diverse platforms, applications, and infrastructure across the Agency, engaging with stakeholders and end-user communities.

The role focuses on administering and maintaining database systems including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL, with responsibilities spanning design, configuration, backup, recovery, and HA/DR

Qualifications

  • 6+ years Database Administrator experience
  • Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or MySQL databases in single instance or clustered configurations
  • Experience configuring MS SQL Availability Groups (AGs), DAGs, Oracle Data Guard, MySQL master‑slave replication
  • Familiarity with Oracle RMAN, Data Pump, and Data Guard
  • Experience with VMware ESXi environments
  • Automation using PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files
  • Must be able to obtain NASA Public Trust background investigation
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates solid knowledge in database design, development and integration principles
  • Fundamental knowledge of database administration best practices and techniques
  • Experience supporting mission critical database management systems
  • Understanding of ANSI Standard SQL constructs for Database Administration
  • Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, migrating, provisioning, securing, patching, backing up and recovery of enterprise database systems
  • Conceptual knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) database architectures
  • Good understanding of networking concepts in a client/server database environment
  • Must have good communication, presentation, documentation and organizational skills
  • Effectively works in a team environment with other DBAs to troubleshoot and resolve complex database problems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Schedule flexibility for on‑call rotation and SLA responses

The Agile Digital Solutions Operating Group is expanding and seeks a Database Administrator to help modernize and transform a broad portfolio of enterprise business solutions for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). In this role, you will join a collaborative team where strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication are essential for success. You will work with diverse platforms, applications, and infrastructure that span the entire Agency, engaging with both Enterprise Applications stakeholders and end-user communities.

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of database systems implemented in support of AAO applications. The AAO database infrastructure consists of Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates solid knowledge in database design, development and integration principles
  • Fundamental knowledge of database administration best practices and techniques
  • Experience supporting mission critical database management systems
  • Understanding of ANSI Standard SQL constructs for Database Administration
  • Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, migrating, provisioning, securing, patching, backing up and recovery of enterprise database systems

  • Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment
  • Schedule flexibility is required to support on‑call DBA rotation and the ability to respond to trouble tickets within time required by SLAs
Required:
  • Preferred experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL databases in single instance or clustered configurations
  • Experience configuring and supporting MS SQL Availability Groups (AGs), Distributed Availability Groups (DAGs), Oracle Data Guard, and MySQL master‑slave replication
  • Demonstrated experience using Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, MS T‑SQL
  • Experience with client tools such as Oracle SQL Developer, TOAD, MS SQL Workbench, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) are a plus
  • Experience in client/server applications design and development is a plus
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Oracle RMAN, DataPump, and Data Guard
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux and MS Windows Operating Systems on VMware
  • Understanding of database consolidation and virtualization concepts and best practices
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NASA Public Trust background investigation
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience (equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree)
  • 6–8 years Database Administrator experience
  • Automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs
  • Experience working in VMware ESXi environments
  • Experience with network storage (SAN/NAS)
  • Experience with enterprise backup solutions
