Job summary

GDIT is seeking a database administrator to provide full lifecycle support for Informix, MySQL, and other databases across enterprise systems.

You will work with enterprise DBAs to install, configure, secure, maintain, deploy, and support databases, plus develop templates and standard configurations. The role emphasizes security, compliance, and monitoring in AWS or hybrid cloud environments.

Qualifications

• MA/MS degree with 5+ years, or BS/BA with 7+ years in IT systems
• Strong experience administering cloud database platforms (Informix, MySQL)
• SQL performance tuning, workload management and DB optimization
• Experience in AWS or hybrid cloud environments
• Automation of DB administration using IaC and scripting
• IBM Database Certification required
• Familiarity with federal security, compliance, and audit requirements
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of modern monitoring/observability tools and CI/CD workflows

Responsibilities

• Provide full operational lifecycle support of Informix, MySQL and other databases including administration, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning and security
• Work with enterprise DBAs to install, configure, secure, maintain, deploy, and support databases on enterprise systems
• Develop templates and implement standard configurations for all databases
• Configure, maintain, and support Enterprise Replication services where required
• Monitor database health and mitigate potential issues and downtime
• Implement changes through approved change management processes
• Participate in design and implementation of database schemas changes
• Plan and implement data migration strategies
• Write SQL queries to extract data for program and stakeholder requests
• Collaborate with Data Platform Engineers, Data Engineers, Architects, Security & app teams
• Ensure DB environments comply with security, privacy, governance & regulatory requirements
