Job summary

Artifintech is seeking a Database Administrator for our Enterprise Data team with a focus on PostgreSQL and SQL Server. You will oversee installation, patching, security, and capacity management of enterprise DBMS and support both production and non-production environments.

Responsibilities include monitoring daily operations, automated alerts, backup/recovery, automation, and evaluating new database technologies for smooth integration across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Experience administering PostgreSQL and SQL Server in an enterprise environment.
• Proficient in backup/recovery and high availability for database systems.
• Scripting/automation experience using Bash, PowerShell, Python or Perl.

Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day production and non-production database systems to ensure smooth operation.
• Create and respond to automated alerts for integrity and stability.
• Develop and maintain work instructions for database administration training.
• Develop processes to monitor performance and integrity including backup/recovery and automation of routine tasks.
• Evaluate and implement new database-related technologies and ensure integration into the tech landscape.
• Ensure business recovery and disaster recovery processes are maintained.
• Provide technical assistance and support to internal and external users of databases.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation with team members.
• Assist in performance tuning for OLTP and Data Warehouse environments; support cloud migration.
• Provide guidance to other teams on best practices and efficiency improvements; strong written and verbal communication.

We are looking for a Database Administrator on our Enterprise Data team with a focus on PostgreSQL and SQL Server. responsible for the installation, patching, security, and capacity management of PostgreSQL and SQL Server database management systems for the enterprise.

Must have Technical Skills:

• PostgreSQL database administrator experience, preferably with EDB
• SQL Server database administrator experience

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Monitors the day-to-day activities of production and non-production database systems to ensure smooth operation of all environments. This includes space administration within the database and at the operating system level to ensure the database systems perform properly and without disruption.
• Creates and responds to automated alerts that ensure the integrity and stability of database systems.
• Develops and maintains work instructions in support of enterprise database systems to ensure that the entire database administration team has been sufficiently trained on the operation and creation of the database systems that we support
• Develops processes and procedures to monitor the performance and integrity of database systems. These processes and procedures include backup and recovery, automation of typically manual activities, as well as the health and general operational readiness of the systems.
• Evaluates, recommends, and oversees implementation of new database-related technologies and ensures smooth integration into the enterprise’s technology landscape.
• Ensures the development and maintenance of business recovery and disaster recovery processes.
• Provides technical assistance and support to both internal and external users of the corporation’s databases.
• 24.x 7 on call support shared with team member on a monthly rotation
• Position requires proficiency with scripting languages such as BASH, KSH, PowerShell, Python or Perl; experience developing automated processes in support of routine database maintenance activities in a Microsoft Windows Server or Unix operating system environment.
• perfomance tuning of database systems supporting both OLTP and Data Warehouse environments; proficiency with backup and recovery software products and concepts; experience with high availability solutions for database systems; experience with Cloud database migration and administration.
• ability to work autonomously and with multiple teams when necessary to triage database system performance issues; ability to provide guidance to other teams on best practices and efficiency improvements; strong written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to think outside the box.
