Job summary

A technology firm is seeking a Data Warehouse Engineer with a backend focus to maintain and improve architecture, tools, and processes. This role involves managing Linux-based processes and enhancing ETL/database operations. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience, a strong background in Shell Scripting, Oracle development, and a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related field. The position is hybrid, based in Plano, Texas.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Warehouse Engineer with a strong emphasis on Shell Scripting and Oracle development.
• Practical working experience in Linux environment setup and shell scripting.
• Practical knowledge of Unix file systems including basics of mount types, permissions, standard tools, pipes.
• Understanding of the Agile methodology.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.

Description

Data Warehouse Engineer w/ Backend Focus to maintain and improve architecture, tools and processes.

Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and manage Linux-based processes and infrastructure for data warehousing.
• Identify and implement system/architecture improvements.
• Enhance various Linux-based toolsets, scripts, jobs and processes.
• Enhance ETL/database load/extract processes.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a Data Warehouse Engineer with a strong emphasis on Shell Scripting and Oracle development.
• Practical working experience in Linux environment setup and shell scripting.
• Practical knowledge of Unix file systems including basics of mount types, permissions, standard tools, pipes.
• Working knowledge of Python and preferably also Perl.
• Practical working experience with relational databases, preferably Oracle Exadata.
• Understanding of the Agile methodology.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Passion for automation and continual process improvement.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM related field.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Practical working experience using ETL tools, preferably Informatica.
• Practical working experience using orchestration tools, preferably Airflow w/ Python.
• Experience with data warehouses and knowledge of the data flows involved.

Willingness to take on problems outside of current skillset and experience.
