Role: Data Warehouse Engineer
Job Type: Contract on W2
Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid)
Description
Data Warehouse Engineer w/ Backend Focus to maintain and improve architecture, tools and processes.
Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, and manage Linux-based processes and infrastructure for data warehousing.
- Identify and implement system/architecture improvements.
- Enhance various Linux-based toolsets, scripts, jobs and processes.
- Enhance ETL/database load/extract processes.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Data Warehouse Engineer with a strong emphasis on Shell Scripting and Oracle development.
- Practical working experience in Linux environment setup and shell scripting.
- Practical knowledge of Unix file systems including basics of mount types, permissions, standard tools, pipes.
- Working knowledge of Python and preferably also Perl.
- Practical working experience with relational databases, preferably Oracle Exadata.
- Understanding of the Agile methodology.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Passion for automation and continual process improvement.
- Minimum 5 years of experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM related field.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Practical working experience using ETL tools, preferably Informatica.
- Practical working experience using orchestration tools, preferably Airflow w/ Python.
- Experience with data warehouses and knowledge of the data flows involved.
Willingness to take on problems outside of current skillset and experience.
