Job summary

City Year is seeking a Data Visualization & User Experience Designer to join the Data Management and Reporting team in a 100% remote role within the continental United States. You will design and maintain front-end report visualizations, validate data accuracy, and build BI solutions using Power BI, SQL Server, and Fabric.

The role emphasizes UX research, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and supporting self-service analytics across City Year nationwide.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience with front end design of reporting visualizations and data analysis
• Experience building Business Intelligence solutions
• Strong UX design skills, including leading heuristic reviews and user interviews for reports
• Experience with Microsoft BI stack: Power BI, SQL Server, Fabric
• Basic proficiency with T-SQL and understanding of fact/dimensional models
• Knowledge of data governance, security and monitoring
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills, strong communication

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, maintain and document front-end report visualizations
• Perform QA testing on reports to ensure accuracy
• Create and maintain DAX measures and Power Query models
• Develop Fabric pipelines and maintenance
• Coordinate UX research and design, including interviews and heuristic reviews

The Business Intelligence Visual Designer serves as an integral member of the broader Data Management and Reporting team at City Year Headquarters which oversees all aspects of enterprise reporting in support of City Years’ service across the country. This role is 100% remote but must reside and work within the continental United States.**Job Description****Job Summary**The Business Intelligence Visual Designer works within the Data Management and Reporting team. They are responsible for delivering data, reporting and dashboard solutions that meet the needs of City Year. They must work well in a team setting and have excellent organizational, prioritization, communication, and time management skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate accountability, flexibility, and adaptability to manage multiple and changing priorities. They must be able to successfully collaborate with development teams, data teams, technology groups, consultants and key stakeholders. This candidate will be excited to promote the effective use of timely and accurate k-12 education data and empower front-line practitioners with the information needed to have greater impact on the students we serve. The Business Intelligence Visual Designer reports to the Director of Data Management and Reporting.# **As a Business Intelligence Visual Designer at City Year, you will:*** Develop front end designs and visualizations. Specifically, + Design, prototype, maintain and document front-end report visualizations + Perform quality assurance testing on the reports to ensure accuracy + Dax measure creation, Power Query Modeling & Maintenance + Fabric pipeline creation and maintenance* Coordinate User Experience Research and Design.
