Job summary

Platinum Technologies, a Northern Virginia-based firm, seeks a Data Visualization Engineer SME to transform complex datasets into actionable insights through Power BI and MicroStrategy dashboards for DoD networks. Location options include Fort Belvoir, VA or Albuquerque, NM.

Active Secret clearance required with ability to obtain TS/SCI. Responsibilities include designing dashboards, performing ETL, collaborating with stakeholders, and maintaining documentation while ensuring STIG/IL

• Bachelor’s degree with 12–15 years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 10–13 years; doctorate may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and MicroStrategy.
• Identify, extract, and analyze data supporting IT operations and system sustainment.
• Perform ETL from structured and unstructured data sources for analytics and visualization.
• Partner with business leaders and IT stakeholders to translate requirements into visualization solutions.
• Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
• Validate data accuracy, troubleshoot reporting issues, and optimize dashboard performance.
• Provide end-user guidance, documentation, and training on visualization tools.
• Maintain SOPs, data dictionaries, and technical documentation with compliance traceability.
• Ensure solutions comply with DoD STIGs and IL5/IL6/IL7 requirements.

Platinum Technologies currently has an opportunity for a Data Visualization Engineer SME. In this role, you will transform complex datasets into actionable insights through Power BI and MicroStrategy dashboards and reports, supporting mission-critical IT operations, sustainment, and decision‑making for DoD networks and systems.

This role is located in Fort Belvoir, VA or Albuquerque, NM. Candidate must hold an active Secret clearance and be able to obtain TS/SCI.

• Ensure applicable solutions comply with DoD STIGs and IL5/IL6/IL7 requirements.

Required Skills.

• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance at hire, with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
• Experience supporting DoD environments and applying STIG and IL5/IL6/IL7 requirements.
• Active IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, or SSCP).
• Bachelor’s degree with 12–15 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 10–13 years; a doctorate may be considered. Additional relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Proven enterprise experience in data analysis, business intelligence, and data visualization.
• Advanced Power BI skills, including DAX and Power Query, and MicroStrategy experience with Dossiers and standard reports.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases and data warehouses.
• Experience with ETL processes using structured and unstructured data.
• Knowledge of IT operations and sustainment, including using operational data to support these functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical findings to nontechnical audiences.
