Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is seeking a Data Specialist in the San Francisco Bay Area to support data management and analytics activities. This full-time, limited-term position spans one year with potential renewal, collaborating with senior staff in a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate has foundational experience in data processing, reporting, and cloud-based tools, including SQL, Power BI or Tableau, and basic Python or R.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant professional experience or internships.
• Practical experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Foundational knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and experience supporting or maintaining simple data pipelines.
• Basic proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation; familiarity with version control is a plus.
• Experience preparing datasets for dashboards using Power BI or Tableau.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Snowflake.
• Ability to perform data validation, follow QA/QC procedures, and maintain documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and maintenance of enterprise data models.
• Support ETL/ELT workflows across multiple sources.
• Prepare datasets for reporting and dashboards; troubleshoot data quality issues.
• Write basic to intermediate SQL queries and document data structures.
• Translate business requirements into clearly defined data tasks and collaborate on solutions.
• Conduct data validation, QA/QC checks, and assist process improvements.
• Support dashboard development in Power BI or Tableau with basic DAX/Power Query.
