Job description

Candidates must have an active Secret clearance and verify, before applying, that you meet the minimum requirements of the position.

Target salary range: $90k-$95k. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Data Solutions Architect responsible for architecting, building, and deploying AI-enabled decision-support and assessment platforms on the Army Vantage (Palantir Foundry) data repository, SharePoint, the Azure (T2COM Cloud/C-Army/Advantage), and Microsoft Power Platform in support of Army experimentation and modernization events. This is a hands-on architect role requiring personal initiative and proactiveness in the design of ontology, writing code, development, training, and integration of AI, and briefing of the architecture to senior leadership when directed. The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-starting learner who can rapidly get up to speed on complex customer processes and data environments.

Travel Requirement: 25% per year to CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiative and Communication: Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and autonomy, independently driving tasks from assignment to completion with minimal supervisory oversight. Proactively identify and resolve obstacles, escalating only when genuinely blocked. Maintain clear, professional, and proactive communication with team members and leadership. Clearly articulate technical concepts, project status, and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ontology & Platform Architecture: Design and implement ontology schemas, object types, write-back Actions, and permissioning models on Army Vantage / Palantir Foundry. Own the end-to-end data model one write path, one audit trail, one permissioning model.
  • AI Agent Engineering: Design, build, and operate LLM-powered agents (distillation, conversational query, insight generation, scoring/coaching) via direct commercial LLM API integration. Enforce source citation to ontology object IDs, confidence scoring, and human-in-the-loop review before AI output surfaces to leadership.
  • Application Development: Build production data-capture, analytics, and review applications, multi-step validated forms with cascading data structures, transcript ingestion pipelines, review/approval queues, and drill-down analytical views.
  • Classification-Aware Deployment: Plan and execute NIPR development-to-SIPR production promotion, including E2E testing against representative prior-event data and coordination of the accreditation path.
  • Architecture Decision Authority: Perform platform and integration trade-off analyses under operational constraints; brief recommendations and decisions to senior military leadership for formal acceptance.
  • Dashboard & Distribution: Develop native Foundry dashboards and Power BI distribution-layer products; partner with staff teams for predictive analytics in Python or other appropriate tools.
  • Data Governance & Quality: Establish and enforce governance, lineage, traceability, and quality standards including AI-output traceability that drive authoritative, trusted data for decision-making by Army senior leaders. Ensure all work products are delivered on time and meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and completeness before submission. Take ownership of deliverable quality to minimize rework cycles
  • Security & Compliance: Champion OPSEC, IA, and PII safeguards in all workflows, aligning with DoD and Army enterprise architecture standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Data/Information Systems, Math, or related field; Equivalent experience may substitute.
  • Clearance: Active Secret clearance required (SIPR access is required for production deployment).
  • Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership of ambiguous requirements and developing solutions with minimal direction.
  • Vantage/Palantir (must-have): Current working knowledge of the Army Vantage data repository or Palantir Foundry-based platforms, including ontology design and application build not solely dashboard consumption. Candidates must be able to describe an ontology they designed and deployed.
  • Coding (must-have): Professional proficiency in React, Python; TypeScript/JavaScript for Foundry Functions strongly preferred. Assessed via technical interview or work sample.
  • LLM/AI Integration: Demonstrated experience integrating commercial LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, or equivalent) into production workflows with human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Experience: 3+ years engineering enterprise data/analytics platforms, including 2+ years on Palantir-based platforms; 3+ years in ETL, data wrangling, and pipeline development.
  • Delivery: Track record delivering against fixed, gated timelines with formal government capability acceptance (IOC/FOC or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with DoD/Army modernization or joint experimentation (Project Convergence or similar).
  • Azure cloud services (Data & Storage, Databricks, Analytics, Purview) as a secondary environment.
  • Experience supporting live experimentation events with rapid capture-to-insight cycles (observer workflows, rapporteur/transcript pipelines).
