Overview

LABUR is supporting a client through a strategic data modernization initiative aimed at enhancing enterprise-wide scalability, security, and performance. This engagement requires a seasoned Data Solutions Architect to lead the design and governance of end-to-end data solutions that align with the organization’s modernization and governance strategies. The architect will ensure that all data flows, from ingestion to consumption, adhere to architectural standards and leverage enterprise platforms including IDMC, AWS Redshift, and S3-based lake zones. This engagement involves deep collaboration across Data, Enterprise Architecture, Security, Platform Engineering, and Business Intelligence teams to deliver cohesive, reusable, and well-governed data designs. The ideal consultant brings advanced technical expertise, strong architectural acumen, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable data platform solutions that accelerate delivery, improve data quality, and reduce duplication across the enterprise.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and manage enterprise data architecture principles, frameworks, and standards across ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption.
  • Collaborate with business and IT to turn strategic data initiatives into actionable architecture roadmaps.
  • Spearhead solution architecture reviews for all major data projects to align with enterprise strategy, security policies, scalability, and compliance.
  • Champion metadata-driven, cloud-native, and automation-first architectural patterns.
  • Design data solutions across the full lifecycle—source ingestion, data lake medallion architecture (Raw/Refined/Curated), data warehouse models (Redshift), and downstream consumption (Tableau, APIs, external systems).
  • Design logical and physical data models that support both analytical and operational workloads while maintaining performance and flexibility.
  • Define integration and orchestration patterns using IDMC, AWS native services, and CI/CD pipelines for data movement and transformation.
  • Work closely with DataOps, Governance, and Quality teams to implement observability, lineage, and testing within all solutions.
  • Design for data resiliency, scalability, and cost efficiency to make sure architectures are production-ready and supportable.
  • Administer data governance and architecture standards.
  • Work closely with Data Governance and Quality teams to create and monitor architectural KPIs (data reuse, lineage completeness, quality scores).
  • Serve as an active participant in Gate reviews and Architecture Review Boards, making sure design artifacts meet readiness criteria.
  • Work hand in hand with Business Intelligence and analytics teams to make sure data models are thoroughly documented, performant, and trusted.
  • Offer architectural guidance and mentoring to engineering teams during project delivery, balancing long-term design integrity with near-term delivery needs.
  • Act as a key liaison between Data Services, Enterprise Architecture, and Application Development teams to facilitate cohesive integration across the ecosystem.
  • Work closely with project managers and product owners to strike a balance between design excellence with delivery velocity.
  • Analyze emerging technologies and architectural trends and assess applicability to the ecosystem.
  • Oversee proofs of concept to evaluate new architectural approaches or tools.
  • Serve as an advocate for the modernization of legacy ETL and reporting processes into reusable, automated, and governed data pipelines.
Qualifications
  • 8-10+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or solution architecture roles.
  • 4-6+ years designing enterprise-scale cloud data solutions (AWS preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing end-to-end data pipelines across ingestion, transformation, and delivery layers.
  • Proven experience supporting business transformation initiatives or modernization programs.
  • Experience in regulated industries preferred.
  • Proven success working within cross-functional data teams (engineering, governance, BI, operations).
  • Excellent understanding of Informatica IDMC (Data Integration, Quality, Catalog, Governance) and its role in an enterprise data ecosystem.
  • Strong understanding of modern data and integration technologies (e.g., IDMC, Kafka, API Gateway, REST/GraphQL, microservices, event-driven architecture).
  • In depth expertise in data architecture and design, including conceptual, logical, and physical modeling.
  • Advanced skills with AWS data services: Redshift, S3, Glue, Lambda, CloudWatch, and related components.
  • Experience with CI/CD automation, DataOps, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Sound grasp of security, compliance, and risk management principles.
  • Superb documentation and presentation skills with the ability to produce clear and actionable architectural deliverables.
  • Knowledge of application, data, and integration architecture domains.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a focus on simplification and standardization.
  • Proven ability to drive architectural alignment across multiple teams and domains.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect data architecture decisions to enterprise value and outcomes.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills for technical collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills in fast-paced, multi-project environments.
