Job summary
Booz Allen is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to serve as the technical backbone for the data science mission in Reston, VA. You will enable experimentation, iteration, and operationalization of insights by shaping cloud-native environments and governed access for multi-tenant workloads.
You will lead platform modernization, drive CI/CD practices, and work with data scientists to deploy reproducible analyses using Jupyter, Python environments, and containerized tooling.

As a senior Data Scientist, you will be the technical backbone of the data science mission. You will work directly in support of a data science team, enabling them to experiment, iterate, and operationalize insights through well‑architected cloud services. You’ll shape the environments where data scientists run notebooks, explore datasets, and develop analytical logic, ensuring these capabilities integrate seamlessly. - 8+ years of experience supporting data science, analytics environments, platform engineering, or cloud‑native operations
- Experience architecting and administering IL6 or IL7 cloud environments such as AWS regions or Azure Government
- Experience designing and enforcing strict IAM and least‑privilege access across multi‑tenant environments
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline development using GitLab CI, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, Git, or GitHub Actions
- Experience with Kubernetes such as EKS or AKS, including runner orchestration and containerized workflow execution
- Knowledge of IaC, compliance automation, and configuration hardening
- Knowledge of automated testing, vulnerability scanning, artifact management, and environment promotion
- Knowledge of Python‑based environments such as Jupyter, conda, venv, or package management and reproducible execution patterns
- Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience with data analytics, or 12+ years of experience with data analytics in lieu of a degree
- Experience deploying and orchestrating workloads in Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift clusters
- Experience building containerized analytical tools or reproducible scientific environments
- Experience configuring observability for platform performance such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
- Experience guiding platform modernization efforts or leading technical delivery teams
- Experience enabling and supporting data scientists in AWS using services such as S3, EC2, IAM, Lambda, EKS or ECS, and CloudWatch
- Experience preparing and maintaining System Security Plans (SSPs) and documentation to apply for the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes
- Knowledge of mission‑related datasets, including SIGINT, GEOINT, HUMINT, or OSINT
- Knowledge of Git, including collaborative workflows and version‑control best practices
- Ability to lead cloud deployment workstreams and collaborate closely with data scientists, cloud engineers, and security teams
- AWS Certifications, including Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps, or ML Specialty Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract‑specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
