Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a passionate Data Scientist to refine experiments and build models for regional placement automation and cross-region tooling used across Amazon. You will work with product and technical leaders to drive scalable infrastructure decisions and improve operational efficiency.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in data science, strong SQL and Python skills, and experience with multinomial logistic regression.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product and technical leaders, advising AWS teams on SDO requirements.
  • Identify enablers and blockers of region flexibility adoption, building models to assess impact of region changes and provide mitigation offerings.
  • Drive the end-state architecture that enables services to break region coupling while retaining critical business functions within a region.
  • Leverage data, information processing, machine learning, and generative AI to improve user experience, automation, service resilience, and operational efficiency.

Overview

Job ID: 10479389 | Amazon.com Services LLC. The Region Flexibility Engineering (RFE) team builds and leverages foundational infrastructure capabilities, tools, and datasets needed to support the rapid global expansion of Amazon's SOA infrastructure. Our team focuses on robust and scalable architecture patterns and engineering best practices, driving adoption of ever evolving AWS technologies. RFE is looking for a passionate, results-oriented, inventive Data Scientist to refine and execute experiments toward our grand vision, influence and implement technical solutions for regional placement automation, cross region libraries, and tooling useful for teams across Amazon.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Work to enable Amazon businesses to leverage new AWS regions and improve efficiency and scale across Amazon Stores, Digital and Others businesses.
  • Collaborate with product and technical leaders, advising AWS teams on SDO requirements.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience with data querying languages (SQL), scripting languages (Python) or statistical/mathematical software (R, SAS, Matlab).
  • 4+ years of data scientist experience.
  • Experience with statistical models such as multinomial logistic regression.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of data visualization experience using AWS QuickSight, Tableau, R Shiny, etc.
  • Experience managing data pipelines.
  • Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team.
