Qualifikationen

Our client, a ~$30B private equity firm, is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Data Science & AI team, working directly across portfolio companies to identify, build and deploy AI and machine learning solutions that drive measurable business value.

This is an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate. It is a hands‑on, technical role with significant business exposure. The ideal candidate has a blend of technical engineering experience to build new dashboards, products, features, and workflows using AI, as well as business acumen to face off with senior portfolio stakeholders. You’ll work with portfolio company operators to understand their challenges, determine whether GenAI, machine learning, analytics or automation is the right solution, and take projects from initial idea through development and deployment.

The team is currently working across businesses in software, healthcare, industrials, and B2B services, providing exposure to a wide variety of companies, datasets and AI use cases.

What You’ll Do

• Identify and build high-impact AI/ML solutions across portfolio companies
• Own projects from problem scoping and data preparation through modeling, deployment and measurement
• Work hands‑on in Python with complex, messy and incomplete datasets
• Build, test and pressure‑test models, understanding performance, limitations and failure modes
• Determine the right approach across GenAI, traditional ML, analytics and workflow automation
• Work directly with portfolio company operators and translate business challenges into technical solutions
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and third‑party vendors
• Clearly communicate technical decisions, outputs and business impact to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
• 3+ years relevant hands‑on experience in data science, machine learning and applied AI, or product development
• Familiarity with MLOps practices, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and version control (Git) and basic software engineering practices for reproducible analytical work
• Experience with APIs and system integration
• Ability to take a messy technical problem and deliver creative solution
• Proficiency in Python and relevant data science libraries; strong data wrangling, ETL and statistical foundations
• Experience building and deploying ML models in production or near‑production environments
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to identify where AI can genuinely create value
• Comfortable explaining complex technical work to business stakeholders
• Curious, pragmatic and comfortable operating across different industries in a lean, high‑accountability environment

Preferred experience

• Candidates with prior experience at Palantir as a Delta, or similar experience as a forward‑deployed software engineer, solution architect, or AI engineer

Compensation:

Competitive base salary + bonus, commensurate with experience. This is a top‑tier global PE firm.

Location

4-days per week in‑office (Boston, MA), with one day per week remote.
