Job summary

McKinsey & Company in the United States is seeking a data scientist to develop data-driven solutions for clients and internal teams. You will work across data science, data engineering, and product management to deliver impactful analytics assets.

Responsibilities include building scalable ML models, writing efficient code, and collaborating in a multidisciplinary setting with consultants, engineers, and designers. Travel may be required based on project needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering, computer science, statistics, data science, or industrial organizational psychology; master’s degree is a plus with less than 2 years of work experience
  • 1+ years of professional experience as a data analyst or data scientist
  • Programming experience in at least two of the following languages: R, Python, Scala, SQL
  • Experience in statistical modelling and machine learning techniques
  • Experience in applying advanced analytics and statistical methods in the commercial world
  • Experience in software development environment (.Net, Java etc) is desirable but not a requisite
  • Consulting experience preferred especially within people analytics space
  • Willingness to travel and co-locate depending on product and initiative needs
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and self-starter to operate in a fast-paced environment and build a strong network across the practice
  • Expertise in communicating analytical and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical colleagues alike

You will work with other data scientists, data engineers, machine learning engineers, designers and product managers to innovate alongside clients and CSTs to develop new solutions or enhance existing assets. This will involve leveraging advancement mathematics, stats and machine learning to derive structure and knowledge from raw data sets across various industry sectors that will enable solutions for many clients and amplify impact across a broad range of issues. You will work on complex and extremely varied data sets from some of the world’s largest organizations to solve real world problems. You will develop impactful data science products and solutions for clients, write highly optimized code to advance our internal Data Science Toolbox, and work in a multidisciplinary environment with specialists in machine learning, data and software engineering, and design teams.
