Job summary

USAA is seeking a data science professional to translate business problems into ML and optimization solutions, delivering actionable insights that automate processes and reduce risk. You will collaborate with engineering to deploy scalable, production-ready analytics and validate results with Model Risk Management.

The role requires strong statistical and modeling skills, Python/R proficiency, and the ability to communicate complex results to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
• 4 years of experience in predictive analytics or data analysis.
• 2 years training and validating advanced analytics models.
• 2 years Python or R for statistical analyses and/or building and scoring AI/ML models.
• Experience writing clear, well-documented code.
• Experience querying and preprocessing data using SQL, NoSQL, or similar languages.
• Experience with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data files.
• Experience performing ad-hoc analytics using descriptive, diagnostic, and inferential statistics.
• Ability to assess regulatory implications of modeling efforts.
• Experience with supervised and unsupervised modeling techniques.
• Ability to communicate results to non-technical partners.
• Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Translate business problems into applied statistical, ML, simulation, and optimization solutions.
• Deliver actionable insights and value through automation, revenue generation, and risk reduction.
• Collaborate with engineering partners to deliver scalable solutions and customer-facing applications.
• Use databases, cloud technologies, and programming to build analytical modeling solutions.
• Partner with Model Risk Management to validate model results before production deployment.
• Develop scalable, automated solutions using ML, simulation, and optimization.
• Develop and deploy models within Model Development and Model Risk Management frameworks.
• Compose technical documentation for risk management and reviews.
• Translate business requests into analytical questions and communicate outcomes to non-technical colleagues.
• Maintain awareness of cutting-edge techniques and learn new technologies.
