Snap Inc. is hiring a Data Scientist to turn quantitative analysis into insights that support product and business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Apply quantitative analysis, data mining, and statistical modeling to produce objective, actionable data insights
- Drive informed, timely decision-making that improves how products are created, executed, and adopted
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, product marketers, and designers
- Use AI tools to build scalable data solutions while maintaining rigorous standards for accuracy and statistical integrity
Requirements
- Expertise using data modeling to identify key product trends and new product opportunities
- Ability to design, implement, and track core metrics to analyze product performance
- Ability to create visuals, dashboards, and reports to communicate insights
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional teams
- Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
- Understanding of Snapchat with strong product sense and product understanding
- Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to stay current with data-driven decision-making, insights generation, and industry best practices
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field (or equivalent years of practical work experience); or Master's degree (technical field)
- 1+ years of post-Bachelor's quantitative analysis and data science experience, or Master’s degree in a technical field
- Technologies: SQL, Python, R
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience using SQL or similar big data querying languages
- 1+ years of experience programming in Python or R
- 1+ years of experience with applied statistical techniques such as inferential methods, causal methods, A/B testing, or statistical modeling techniques
- Advanced degree in applied mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, economics, or related field
- Experience in a product-focused role at a social media, online advertising, digital media, and/or mobile technology company
- Experience using machine learning and statistical analysis for building data-driven product solutions or performing methodological research
Compensation and Work Location
- Location: Los Angeles, CA (onsite)
- Salary (US zones): Zone A $118,000-$176,000; Zone B $112,000-$167,000; Zone C $100,000-$150,000 annually
- Equity: Eligible for RSUs
- Salary range may vary by pay zone assigned to the work location
