Sierra Management and Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Journeyman Data Scientist to support the Department of Homeland Security. You will design, build, and operate data pipelines and analytic models that convert complex data into decision-quality products.

This role emphasizes production-grade development and clear communication with government leadership. Applicants should have 3+ years of quantitative analysis experience, be proficient in Python or R, and hold a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of quantitative analysis/data science experience in DHS or large federal programs.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for statistics and data engineering.
• Ability to produce recurring, high-visibility analytic products and explain methods to non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

About the Role:

The Data Scientist, Journeyman supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by developing and deploying advanced analytic capabilities that turn complex data into decision-quality products. In this role, you will help design, build, operate, and improve the data pipelines, statistical models, and analytic products that inform mission outcomes.

In this role, you will:

• Collect, compile, integrate, and analyze data from disparate authoritative systems, and engineer repeatable processes to transform that data into decision-quality products
• Build and document production-grade data pipelines and models
• Support the modernization of legacy analytic processes by migrating and re-engineering existing code
• Brief findings, methodologies, limitations, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior Government leadership

Must have:

• At least three (3) years of experience performing quantitative analysis, data science, or analytic engineering in support of a Department of Homeland Security programs or comparable large-scale federal customer. Three (3) years of experience applying statistical analysis and modeling to operational or programmatic data to inform Government decision-making.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for statistical analysis and production data engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to produce recurring, high-visibility analytic products and to communicate methodology, assumptions, and limitations to non-technical decision-makers.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
