Job summary

Nomura is seeking an Internal Audit Data Scientist in New York to audit Global Markets, employing data analytics and automated testing to assess risks across major asset classes. You will work with Front Office Trading and Sales, Market Risk, and Control Functions to identify weaknesses and drive improvements, reporting to the Americas Head of Internal Audit.

Required are strong data analysis skills, experience in trading or broker-dealer contexts, and proficiency in Python with knowledge of

Qualifications

• Experience in data analysis within business or academic contexts.
• Experience in trading businesses or broker-dealer/investment bank environments.
• Proficiency in Python or similar languages to derive risk and control insights.
• Knowledge of AI tools and prompt engineering is advantageous.
• Familiarity with databases (SQL, Elastic, Graph) and Linux environments.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, QlikView).
• Understanding of auditing principles and documenting business processes and controls.
• Strong communication and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Audit Global Markets businesses and assess risks across products.
• Develop automated testing and data analytics for control effectiveness.
• Identify internal control weaknesses and report to senior management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Front Office, Market Risk, and Compliance.
