DataJobs is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to own end-to-end ML operations and optimization modeling that influence North America middle miles planning for large-scale logistics.

You will design and implement complex ML and optimization solutions, lead from framing to deployment and monitoring, and collaborate with data engineering to productionize models, with strong emphasis on forecasting and time-series analysis.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of data scientist experience.
• 3+ years experience with SQL, Python, or statistical software (R, SAS, Matlab).
• 3+ years experience applying ML/statistical modeling analysis tools and techniques.
• Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
• Proficiency in time-series forecasting, regression, tree-based methods, and deep learning.

Job description

Own end-to-end ML operations and optimization modeling that influence North America middle miles planning for Amazon’s Sort Center and Transportation Operations Management.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex ML and optimization solutions including forecasting, MIP/LP, simulation, and deep learning / foundation model approaches
• Lead delivery of scalable models from problem framing through deployment and post-launch monitoring (data exploration, feature engineering, training, evaluation)
• Create new modeling patterns and analytical frameworks for forecasting (including multivariate, hierarchical, causal-DAG, and model-chaining) and optimization
• Build robust model validation, backtesting, and monitoring pipelines; detect and eliminate sources of leakage, bias, and silent failure
• Define and own model performance metrics (example provided: WAPE) tied to business outcomes
• Partner with Data Engineering and Software Development to productionize models, define I/O contracts, manage packaging, and support model CI/CD
• Communicate findings, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders and senior leadership

Requirements

• 2+ years of data scientist experience
• 3+ years experience with data querying languages (example: SQL), scripting languages (example: Python), or statistical/mathematical software (examples: R, SAS, Matlab)
• 3+ years experience applying ML/statistical modeling analysis tools and techniques, including understanding parameters that affect performance
• Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
• Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
• Proficiency in statistical modeling and machine learning including time-series forecasting, regression, tree-based methods, and deep learning

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
