Job summary

Base-2 Solutions in Annapolis, MD is seeking a Data Scientist Level 2 to support the VISTA MT&E Team. The role develops machine learning, data mining, statistical, and graph-based analytics to analyze complex datasets, build and evaluate models, and translate findings into production-ready solutions.

The candidate will partner with SMEs, software engineers, and cloud developers to produce scalable analytic workflows, implement experiments, and validate models using industry-standard metrics like

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
• Proficiency in Python and R for data manipulation, analysis, and algorithm implementation.
• Strong foundation in statistics including regression, hypothesis testing, and distributions.
• Knowledge of ML algorithms and frameworks such as TensorFlow and Scikit-Learn.
• Data wrangling and transforming complex datasets into usable formats.
• Experience with SQL and databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Matplotlib.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field; 5+ years of analytics experience.
• 5+ years of programming with data analysis software (R, Python, SAS, MATLAB).

Responsibilities

• Produce data visualizations that reveal dataset structure and meaning.
• Develop scripts to extract information from SQL tables, metadata, and logs.
• Create feature vectors for analytic models and translate SME input into analytics.
• Translate qualitative analysis processes into quantitative software solutions.
• Develop statistical, ML, and heuristic methods for descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
• Validate analytics using cross-validation, ROC curves, and confusion matrices.
• Design experiments to collect data or simulate data when needed.
• Guide analytic development toward scalable, production-ready solutions.
