Job summary

Caterpillar’s Cat Digital arm seeks a data analytics professional to build next-generation analytics for the world’s largest fleet of connected assets. You will explore data, apply NLP and ML techniques, and deliver insights using visualization tools.

You will work with Python data stacks, cloud platforms, and collaborate across teams in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment in Chicago.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field.
  • Experience with Python data tools (NumPy, pandas).
  • Knowledge of ML and NLP techniques.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Job Summary

Join the Equipment Usage Analytics team of Cat Digital to develop the next generation of Analytics for the largest fleet of connected assets in the industry. Our best-looking team helps to solve our customers’ toughest challenges, using the latest advancements in Analytics. Some of the opportunities you will be working are using both internal and external data to predict applications, downtime, measuring efficiency, among many others top-secret, high value, and resume-changing work.

What You Will Do

Performing the data gathering, data mining, and data processing processes in huge volume; creating appropriate data models. Exploring, promoting, and implementing semantic data capabilities through Natural Language Processing, text analysis and machine learning techniques. Defining requirements and scope of data analyses; presenting and reporting possible business insights to management using data visualization technologies. Conducting research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy on data analyses.

What You Will Have

Business Statistics: Working knowledge of the statistical tools, processes, and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools and processes to assist in making business decisions. Machine Learning: Working knowledge of principles, technologies and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop, implement and deliver related systems, products and services. Programming Languages: Working knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of applying Python programming to solve business challenges; ability to use tools, techniques and platforms to write and modify programming languages. Query and Database Access Tools: Working knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use.

Considerations for Top Candidates

Typically, a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Applied Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Predictive Analytics, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Industrial, Agricultural, etc.), or equivalent technical degree. Experience applying Python (NumPy, SciPy, pandas, etc.) programming to solve business challenges. Experience with advanced data analysis and statistical methods such as regression, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, statistical process control, etc. (typically 1+ years) Working knowledge with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.) Advanced experience with version control / repositories such as GitHub Must demonstrate initiative, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively.

Summary Pay Range

$89,210.00 - $144,960.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
