CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is seeking a Data Scientist for ID/STRAT and Program Evaluation on the Health Economics and Reporting team. The role focuses on solving business problems using statistical modeling, ML, and operations research to support data science initiatives and educate teams on AI concepts.
The candidate will work in a hybrid Maryland/DC/NOVA setting, collaborating with product teams and business units, and may mentor junior staff as needed.
We're hiring for a Data Scientist- ID/STRAT and Program Evaluation on the Health Economics and Reporting team at CareFirst! Identifies and solves business problems by using various numerical techniques, algorithms, and models in statistical modeling, machine learning, operations research, and data mining. Uses advanced analytical capabilities to support data science initiatives. Communicates across product teams and with customers and educates on artificial intelligence, machine learning, and statistical models. Acting as a liaison and interface between analytics, business units and other departments.
We're not looking for generalists who may have an IT background and various credentials like Scrum, Agile, etc. This role requires candidates to be located in the Maryland, Washington, DC, or Northern Virginia (DMV) area who are willing and able to work in a hybrid model. The incumbent will be expected to work a portion of their week from home and a portion of their week at a CareFirst location based on business needs and work activities/deliverables that week.
Position does not have direct reports but is expected to assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff. May lead a team of matrixed resources.
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
