Overview

Data Scientist (HI - TS/SCI Poly Required) at Themis Insight, LLC. Location: Oahu, HI. Position location is subject to change based on central MD client's needs.

Responsibilities
  • Devise strategies for extracting meaning and value from large datasets.
  • Make and communicate principled conclusions from data using mathematics, statistics, computer science, and domain-specific knowledge.
  • Develop and implement qualitative and quantitative methods for characterizing, exploring, and assessing large datasets in various states of organization and cleanliness, accounting for features and limitations inherent in data holdings.
  • Translate practical mission needs and analytic questions into technical requirements; assist others with drawing appropriate conclusions from the analysis of data.
  • Effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Make informed recommendations regarding competing technical solutions by staying aware of evolving data collection, processing, storage, and analytic capabilities and limitations.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Data Scientist 2: A Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience. An Associate’s degree plus 5 years of relevant experience may be considered when clearly related to the position.
  • Data Scientist 3: A Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience. An Associate’s degree plus 12 years of relevant experience may be considered when clearly related to the position.
  • Degree must be in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research, or Computer Science. Related fields may be considered if they include substantial coursework in advanced mathematics and/or computer science (typically 5+ courses at the 300 level or higher).
  • A broader range of degrees will be considered if accompanied by a Certificate in Data Science from an accredited college/university.
  • Relevant experience must include designing/implementing machine learning, data science, analytical algorithms, programming (at least one high-level language such as Python and one mid-level language such as C), data mining, advanced statistical analysis, mathematical foundations, AI, workflow and reproducibility, data management and curation, and data modeling/assessment. Experience in more than three areas is strongly preferred.
