Job description

Data Scientist – SETA

Noblis-ESI is seeking a Data Scientist - SETA to provide analytic, technical, and advisory support our client in Chantilly VA. The selected candidate will help advance mission‑critical initiatives by applying data science, modeling, and analytic tradecraft to enhance enterprise capabilities, inform senior decision‑making, and drive innovation across the Directorate community.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, refine, and operationalize statistical, machine learning, and predictive models to support enterprise Directorate decisions.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), feature engineering, and data quality assessments across diverse mission datasets.
  • Build reproducible analytic workflows and pipelines to support enterprise‑level assessments and long‑term analytic baselines.
  • Provide analytic insights to customer leadership on system performance, collection strategies, and future architecture planning.
  • Evaluate system‑and enterprise‑level tradeoffs using quantitative methods, simulation outputs, and mission modeling tools.
  • Support enterprise integration activities by translating complex analytic findings into actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple NRO and IC sources, ensuring proper handling, transformation, and integration.
  • Develop dashboards, visualizations, and analytic products that clearly communicate trends, uncertainties, and mission impacts.
  • Implement best practices for data governance, metadata tagging, and analytic reproducibility.
  • Partner with government leads, system engineers, modelers, and mission analysts across the organization.
  • Present analytic results to technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior government officials.
  • Contribute to working groups, tiger teams, and enterprise‑level studies supporting customer priorities.
Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in "Data Science", "Computer Science", "Mathematics", "Engineering", "Statistics" or related field. Alternatively, demonstrate an additional 4 years of related experience per level if no bachelor’s degree is held.
  • Demonstrated experience applying statistical analysis, machine learning, or quantitative modeling to complex datasets.
  • Proficiency with Python, R, or similar analytic languages.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Plotly, matplotlib).
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
Junior‑Level
  • Bachelor's degree and 0 years, OR Master's degree and 0 years OR, Associate and 3 years OR High School/GED Diploma and 6 years.
  • Compensation: $82,500 – $141,775
Mid‑Level
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years, OR Master's degree and 3 years OR, Associate and 8 years OR High School/GED Diploma and 11 years.
  • Compensation: $120,700 – $188,725
Senior‑Level
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years, OR Master's degree and 8 years OR, Associate and 13 years OR High School/GED Diploma and 16 years
  • Compensation: $146,200 – $228,400
Desired Qualifications
  • Degree in a quantitative or technical field.
  • Experience supporting NRO, NGA, or other IC mission partners.
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, C2S, GovCloud) and distributed computing.
  • Knowledge of mission modeling tools, simulation frameworks, or GEOINT performance metrics.
  • Background in operations research, optimization, or decision science.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract‑specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on‑call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.
