Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a Data Scientist to lead AI/ML initiatives for I&C systems on Navy platforms. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to apply AI/ML, build CI/CD pipelines, and develop user interfaces while ensuring cybersecurity and DevSecOps practices.

The role requires a strong engineering or science background with 4+ years experience, and offers leadership opportunities on technical programs and committees within the Digital Strategic Development unit.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related engineering or science field with 4+ years of experience, or Master's with 2+ years, or Doctorate in a related field.
Strong programming experience in Python and/or C++.
Experience with on-premises deployment, container orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with large language models, AI/ML in safety-critical environments.
Experience developing user interfaces for applications.

Responsibilities

Identify, scope, prioritize, and implement high-impact AI/ML use cases for I&C systems.
Collaborate on safe use policies for LLMs in safety-critical hardware/software.
Analyze data to generate actionable insights for tools and processes.
Integrate AI/ML models into software applications and workflows.
Provide technical leadership on assigned projects and committees.
Prepare justifications, specifications, and procurement plans.
