Job summary

The Office of Inspector General for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency seeks a Data Scientist (Direct Hire) to develop data pipelines, clean data, engineer features, and build ML models in AWS and Microsoft 365 environments.

You will create visualizations with PowerBI and ArcGIS, review and optimize SQL, Python, and R code, and document methodologies for audit and investigation work. This is a GS-1560 position with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in math, stats, CS, or data science or related field.
• One year of specialized experience at GS-07 level or equivalent.
• Experience building ML models and data pipelines.
• Experience with AWS and M365 environments.

Responsibilities

• Model data analysis and statistical trends using data pipelines.
• Create visualizations using BI tools and ML services like PowerBI and SageMaker.
• Review and optimize SQL, Python, and R code for ML models and data access.
• Prepare data dictionaries and technical documentation for reproducibility.
• Support data validation, testing, monitoring, and code reviews.
