Job summary

PEMCO is seeking a Data Scientist - Actuarial to conduct actuarial and predictive analysis supporting product development, rating, reserving, and system changes. You will work with product managers and actuaries to influence strategic decisions and design pricing models.

The role requires 3+ years in actuarial modeling, proficiency in Python/R/SAS/SQL, and a strong analytical mindset. Knowledge of Radar/Emblem/ResQ is a plus; travel to PEMCO's Seattle headquarters is possible.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related field.
• 3+ years actuarial and predictive modeling experience.
• 1+ years in the property and casualty insurance industry.
• Proficient in Excel; skilled in Python, R, SAS, and SQL.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Familiarity with relevant laws, rules, and regulations.

The Data Scientist - Actuarial position is responsible for conducting actuarial and predictive analysis to support product development, rating, reserving, process improvements and system changes for PEMCO.

What You'll Bring

• B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience (Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field) is required
• 3+ years of experience in actuarial and statistical predictive modeling is required
• 1+ years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry is required
• MS Office: Skilled proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook is required
• Job specific: Skilled proficiency with Python, R, SAS and/or SQL is required
• Job specific: Experience with Radar, Emblem, or ResQ is considered advantageous
• Precision: Is detail orientated and has a strong desire for accuracy and thoroughness is required
• Analytical and data-driven: Thinks analytically; a structured thinker who can put complex ideas into clear frameworks; uses data to conduct root cause analysis and develops high quality, consumable, and consistent metrics that drive strategic objectives and priorities is required
• Highly Analytical: Is passionate about working with disparate datasets bringing data together to answer business questions. Collaborates to create, manage, and translate data to meaningful insights. Can work with external vendors to integrate data for analysis; knows how to build efficient and scalable infrastructure and data models is required
• Compliance: Possesses knowledge and understanding of relevant laws, rules, and regulations

Compensation

The pay range for this role is shown below. Compensation decisions are determined based on an individual's qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

• Greater Seattle area target pay range: $127,971 - $156,409. The full pay range is $106,643 - $177,738.
• Outside Greater Seattle area target pay range: $112,937 - $138,035. The full pay range is $94,115 - $156,857.

Benefits
