Job summary

Peraton seeks a Data Scientist with active TS/SCI clearance to join the Federal Strategic Cyber group in Chandler, AZ or Washington, DC. You will design and operationalize advanced analytics and ML solutions to enhance threat detection and SOC automation.

The role provides technical leadership, translates security data into actionable insights, and collaborates with threat hunters, engineers, and SOC analysts to operationalize analytics and produce briefings for leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with minimum 8 years experience, additional 4 years may substitute.
• Minimum of 7 years Intelligence experience with IC management or supervision.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, D3FEND, Diamond Model, Kill Chain frameworks.
• Certifications such as CISM, CySA+, GCIA, CFR, Network+, Security+, or CEH.
• U.S. citizenship and active TS/SCI security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML models to improve SOC alert fidelity and response.
• Analyze large telemetry from SIEM, SOAR, EDR, networks, and cloud platforms.
• Build data pipelines, feature engineering and model validation workflows.
• Integrate analytics into SOC tools using Docker- and Kubernetes-based architectures.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor data science and analytics personnel.
• Collaborate with SOC analysts, threat hunters, and engineers to operationalize insights.

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking to hire an experienced Data Scientist for its Federal Strategic Cyber group.

Location: Chandler, AZ or Washington DC.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• The Data Scientist supports a 24x7 Security Operations Center (SOC) by designing, developing, and operationalizing advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that enhance threat detection, response automation, and operational decision-making.
• This role provides technical leadership and translates complex security data into actionable insights.

You will:

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and advanced analytics to improve SOC alert fidelity, prioritization, and response effectiveness.
• Analyze large volumes of security telemetry from SIEM, SOAR, EDR, network, and cloud platforms.
• Build and maintain data pipelines, feature engineering processes, and model validation workflows.
• Integrate analytics into SOC tools and operational workflows using Docker- and Kubernetes-based architectures.
• Apply MITRE ATT&CK and related frameworks to align analytics with adversary behaviors and threat use cases.
• Provide technical solution design and act as a technical lead or mentor for data science and analytics personnel.
• Collaborate closely with SOC analysts, threat hunters, and engineers to operationalize insights.
• Produce technical documentation, model performance metrics, and leadership-level briefings.
• Support continuous improvement of SOC analytics, automation, and detection capabilities.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree with minimum 8 years experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
• Minimum of 7 years Intelligence experience with IC Management or Supervision related experience.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, D3FEND, Diamond Model, Kill Chain frameworks
• Possess and maintain one of the following certifications:
  • CISM, CySA+, GCIA + CFR, Network+, Security+, or CEH
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
