Job Description: Data Scientist

Position Summary:

This role is within the GPS GSi group at Deloitte, focusing on developing and maintaining data science and business intelligence solutions. The candidate will create and deploy machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI initiatives to enhance decision-making for Enabling Area professionals. The position requires expertise in data science, independence, and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:
  1. Data Science Product Development: Lead or participate in developing data science products tailored to client needs, translating requirements into actionable data science solutions.
  2. Independent Problem-Solving: Execute tasks independently, applying critical thinking to solve unique challenges effectively.
  3. Model Design and Deployment: Design, train, and deploy machine learning and deep learning models on AWS, Databricks, and Dataiku platforms.
  4. LLM Development and Consultation: Develop and advise on Large Language Model (LLM) solutions, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Continued Pre-training (CPT), and Supervised Fine-tuning (SFT).
  5. MLOps Implementation: Implement MLOps pipelines, utilizing containerization (Docker) and CI/CD practices for model training and deployment.
  6. Code Development: Write clean, well-commented code to facilitate collaboration and understanding.
  7. Project Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of project stages, using tools like GitHub and Jira for version control and project management.
  8. Communication and Expertise: Communicate complex analytical solutions effectively to clients and team members.
  9. Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with industry trends in data science and related fields, continuously enhancing skills.
  10. Quality Assurance: Ensure accuracy and quality in data science solutions through meticulous review.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related analytical field.
  • 6+ years of experience in data science, with mastery of Python, machine learning, deep learning, and relevant packages (e.g., sklearn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Experience leading data science projects from inception to deployment.
  • Strong knowledge of LLMs and RAG.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Databricks, Dataiku, and MLOps tools like Docker.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with MLOps frameworks, open-source LLMs, AWS services, front-end development, and OOP concepts.
Compensation:

Estimated range: $97,600 - $179,900 per year, with potential eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive.
