Job summary

Google is seeking a Data Scientist in Sunnyvale, CA to lead end-to-end data projects, build statistical models, and translate insights into business impact. The role requires 5 years of experience post-baccalaureate or an equivalent Master’s path and strong SQL, Python or R skills.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, define analytical roadmaps, and present KPIs to leadership. Hybrid work may be possible, with base salary in the US market and equity/bonus components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, CS, Mathematics or related field with 5 years of post-baccalaureate experience.
• Alternatively, Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
• 3 years of experience in SQL data extraction and manipulation; Python or R for stats; applying statistical methods; defining metrics; communicating findings to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end data lifecycle: gather, extract, and compile data from various sources using SQL, R, or Python while ensuring data quality and security.
• Conduct in-depth analysis and design statistical models to interpret complex datasets and build scalable insights.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define business questions, develop an analytical roadmap, and address product or business challenges.
• Translate analytical findings into actionable insights and strategic recommendations for product decisions and long-term strategy.
• Present KPIs and results to support business reviews and inform cross-functional leadership.
• Develop knowledge of internal data structures and advocate for infrastructure improvements to enhance data quality and processing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Data Scientist-related occupation.

• Alternatively, will accept a Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Data Scientist-related occupation.

• Position requires 3 years of experience in the following:

• SQL for data extraction and manipulation

• Python or R for statistical analysis and problem-solving

• Applying statistical methods including t-tests and descriptive statistics

• Defining and rationalizing metrics to measure business outcomes

• Communicating analytical findings and statistical concepts to stakeholders, including senior leadership

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $177,750 - $198,000 + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits determined by role, level, and location. Position reports to the Google Sunnyvale, CA office & may allow for a hybrid schedule per Google policy.

• Develop comprehensive knowledge of internal data structures and advocate for infrastructure improvements to enhance data quality and processing capabilities for future analyses.
