Job summary

Carbon Data Solutions is seeking a Data Scientist to analyse raw information and build data products that deliver valuable insights for clients. The role requires strong analytical abilities, experience with ML, and proficiency in Python/SQL.

You will translate complex data into actionable business recommendations for non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across teams to drive data-driven decisions. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Google Cloud) and BI tools is preferred, as is 1-2

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate should have a degree in a quantitative field (math, CS, physics, economics, etc).
  • Basic knowledge of software development principles and architecture.
  • Familiarity with data analysis programming in Python, SQL, or R.
  • Strong oral and written communication around analytical concepts and methods.
  • Knowledge of Cloud technologies such as AWS or Google Cloud.
  • 1-2 years experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst.
  • Understanding of machine-learning and operations research.
  • Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; Java or C++ is a plus.
  • Experience using business intelligence tools and data frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong math skills including statistics and algebra.

Job description

Weare looking for a Data Scientist to analyse raw information to findpatterns that will add value to our clients. We will rely on you to build dataproducts to extract valuable business insights. In this role, you should behighly analytical with a knack for analysis, math and statistics. Criticalthinking and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting data. Wewant to see a passion for machine-learning and research. Your goal will be tohelp our company analyze trends to make better decisions.

The ideal candidate must be proficient in:

  • Statistical analysis:Identify patterns in data. This includes having a keen sense of pattern detection and anomaly detection.
  • Machine learning:Implement algorithms and statistical models to enable a computer to automatically learn from data.
  • Computer science:Apply the principles of artificial intelligence, database systems, human/computer interaction, numerical analysis, and software engineering.
  • Programming: Write computer programs and analyze large datasets to uncover answers to complex problems. Need to be comfortable writing code working in a variety of languages such as Java, R, Python, and SQL.
  • Data storytelling:Communicate actionable insights using data. Often for a non-technical audience.
  • Business intuition:Connect with stakeholders to gain a full understanding of the problems they’re looking to solve.
  • Analytical thinking.Find analytical solutions to abstract business issues.
  • Critical thinking:Apply objective analysis of facts before coming to a conclusion.
  • Inquisitiveness:Look beyond what’s on the surface to discover patterns and solutions within the data.
  • Interpersonal skills:Communicate across a diverse audience across all levels of an organisation.
Requirements
  • Ideal candidate should have a degree in a quantitative field :mathematics, computer science, physics, economics, engineering, statistics,operations research, quantitative social science, etc).
  • Basic Knowledge on software development principles andarchitecture.
  • Familiarity with programming for data analysis; ideally Python,SQL, or R.
