Qualifications

• Strong experience with Python, SQL, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, PySpark, and statistical analysis techniques.
• Experience with anomaly detection model development using methods like Isolation Forest, Autoencoders, Time Series Models (Prophet, ARIMA).
• Understanding of A/B testing and experimental design.
• Background in retail/eCommerce/merchant analytics or consumer analytics.
• Familiarity with recommendation systems and decision intelligence platforms.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and AI/ML platforms/MLOps.
• Knowledge of Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions.

Responsibilities

The Role

UST is searching for an experienced Data Scientist to develop advanced analytics solutions that identify sales anomalies, uncover business insights, and generate actionable recommendations for merchants.

The ideal candidate will leverage machine learning, statistical modeling, and data science techniques to detect unusual sales patterns, understand drivers behind sales fluctuations, and provide prescriptive guidance on what merchants should do next to improve performance, revenue, and customer engagement.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement models to identify abnormal sales behavior across merchants, categories, products, and regions.
• Develop real-time and batch anomaly detection frameworks to detect revenue spikes and drops, sales trend deviations, inventory-related anomalies, pricing irregularities, promotion performance anomalies, and seasonal pattern deviations.
• Monitor merchant performance and proactively flag risks and opportunities.
• Develop advanced analytics solutions that uncover business insights and generate actionable, prescriptive recommendations for merchants to improve performance, revenue, and customer engagement.
• Leverage machine learning, statistical modeling, and data science techniques to understand the drivers behind sales fluctuations.

What You Need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics, or related roles.
• Strong experience with Python, SQL, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, PySpark, and statistical analysis techniques.
• Experience developing anomaly detection models using Isolation Forest, Autoencoders, Time Series Models, Prophet, ARIMA, and Clustering Algorithms.
• Strong understanding of A/B testing and experimental design.
• Experience in retail, eCommerce, marketplace, merchant analytics, or consumer analytics.
• Knowledge of recommendation systems and decision intelligence platforms.
• Experience working with GCP (Google Cloud Platform).
• Experience with AI/ML platforms and MLOps frameworks.
• Familiarity with Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions.
• Technical skills in predictive modeling, time series forecasting, anomaly detection, recommendation systems, statistical modeling, feature engineering, and deep learning.

Location & Compensation

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Compensation Range: $86,000-$129,000

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty.
