Job summary

Leidos in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Data Scientist to support data architecture maintenance and implementation for program data.

You will build data pipelines, manage ETL, and ensure data quality and governance across sensor datasets used by government programs. Strong communication skills and experience with SQL/NoSQL, APIs, Python/JavaScript/Java are required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with SQL or NoSQL databases and cloud architectures.
• Experience using APIs to query systems and migrate data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to lay and expert audiences.
• Programming experience with Python, JavaScript, or Java.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Leidos is hiring a Data Scientist to support data architecture maintenance and implementation for Program data in Alexandria, VA.

Responsibilities

• Support creation of data pipelines to store and process information for emergent sensors and platforms, including database tables and schemas
• Define data health alerts and establish Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines for emergent sensor data
• Build workflows that move sensor data via API between data platforms as directed by the government
• Ensure sensor data meets government-directed data schemas, formats, and governance requirements
• Evaluate metadata, data format, and data structure differences across database, schema, API, and ETL changes during ingestion and movement into the existing data operations pipeline
• Design preprocessing and standardization steps to align data to existing standards or transform it for labeling and model testing, including:
  • File format conversions
  • Tiling full-size images into specified sizes or geospatial bounds (chipping)
  • Orthorectification and other data standardization, transformation, or manipulation methods

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience working with SQL or NoSQL databases and cloud architectures
• Experience using APIs to query systems and migrate data
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to lay and expert audiences
• Programming experience with Python, JavaScript, or Java
• Experience developing and sustaining operational data pipelines for multiple data formats and interfaces
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree
