Job summary

Intel Foundry seeks an AI Software Engineering PhD Intern to design, develop, and optimize AI software across computer vision, ML, and deep learning. You will implement models, explore applied research, and integrate hardware-software systems to enable scalable AI solutions.

You will contribute to tooling for tool capacity management and predictive analytics, linking manufacturing data with in-house Gen AI and LLM services for conversational querying by engineers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, ML, Statistics, or related field.
• 6+ months of experience with programming.
• 3+ months experience with Git, Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, MCP server.
• Proficiency in Python programming and machine learning techniques.

Job Description: The Role and Impact

As an AI Software Engineering PhD Intern, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of cutting-edge AI software solutions across domains such as computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning. You will implement and tune AI models for performance and accuracy, explore applied research opportunities, and engage in hardware-software integration to enable scalable and efficient AI solutions. Your work will directly support Intel's technological advancements, giving you hands-on experience to develop skills while contributing to impactful projects in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing and implementing data-driven solutions that optimize tool capacity management, risk modeling, and defect inspection strategies.
• You will build robust cloud-based ETL pipelines, develop predictive models, deliver actionable insights through published reports and dashboards, and build an MCP server that connects manufacturing data and analytical models to our in house Gen AI and LLM service that empowers engineers to query manufacturing data conversationally.

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum qualifications and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork, classes, research, relevant previous job, and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related discipline.
• 6+months of experience with programing
• 3+ months experience with Git, Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, MCP server
• Proficiency in Python programming and machine learning techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data analysis and visualization.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis and modeling techniques.Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures and database fundamentals

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $170,598.00-170,602.00 USD
