Job summary

DraftKings Inc. is hiring a Data Science Manager in Boston to lead a team of data scientists and ML engineers. You will drive personalization initiatives, oversee the SDLC, and partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Revenue to deliver high-value data-driven solutions.

You will set strategic direction, raise technical standards, and champion MLOps practices while staying current on ML and gaming trends to evolve capabilities. This is a leadership role with bonus and equity.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of data science or ML engineering experience, including 2+ years in formal leadership or management.
  • Proven expertise in Python and SQL.
  • Experience leading teams through delivery cycles with strong SDLC discipline.
  • Hands-on with ML systems, statistical modeling, and experimentation frameworks.
  • Deep familiarity with DevOps and MLOps concepts, including containerization and production monitoring.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and executives.
  • Gaming industry experience is a strong plus.

As a Data Science Manager, you drive strategy and execution to power personalized experiences for millions of customers. You'll lead a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers, guiding projects from concept through production and delivering scalable, high-performing machine learning systems. In this role, you'll work closely with our Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Revenue teams to align priorities and drive measurable impact. Beyond execution, you'll set strategic direction, foster a culture of innovation, and raise the technical standards across the organization.

What You'll Do
  • Manage, coach, and grow a team of data scientists and engineers focused on delivering impactful personalization initiatives.
  • Guide your team through the Model Development Lifecycle (SDLC), championing technical rigor and engineering best practices.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to scope projects, prioritize work, and deliver high-value, data-driven solutions.
  • Foster a team culture of collaboration, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, deliver constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for growth and development.
  • Set strategic priorities and align your team’s roadmap with larger business goals and outcomes.
  • Promote software engineering and MLOps best practices, including automation, containerization, monitoring, and testing.
  • Stay current on trends in machine learning, personalization, and gaming to continuously evolve our capabilities.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data science or machine learning engineering, including 2 or more years in a formal leadership or management role.
  • Proven expertise in Python and SQL, with experience working across modern data platforms and cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and experience leading teams through delivery cycles.
  • Hands‑on experience with machine learning systems, statistical modeling, and experimentation frameworks.
  • Deep familiarity with DevOps and MLOps concepts, including containerization, automation, and production monitoring.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and executives.
  • Experience in the gaming industry or a related domain is a strong plus.
Join Our Team

We’re a publicly traded (NASDAQ: DKNG) technology company headquartered in Boston. As a regulated gaming company, you may be required to obtain a gaming license issued by the appropriate state agency as a condition of employment. The US base salary range for this full-time position is 160,000.00 USD - 200,000.00 USD, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. Our ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The compensation information displayed on each job posting reflects the range for new hire pay rates for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
