Job summary

Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health is seeking an experienced Data Scientist Supervisor to lead a team of data professionals, turning data into insights that guide County decisions.

In this role, you will drive data science initiatives from concept to implementation, partnering with technology teams, executives, and program leaders to deliver high-impact results and advance the County's analytics strategy.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience leading the development and application of advanced data science methods (statistical prediction, inference, optimization, data analysis).

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor data scientists and analysts on complex, high-impact projects.
• Use machine learning, advanced analytics, and statistical methods to solve real-world problems.
• Turn complex data into clear insights, dashboards, visualizations, and recommendations.
• Help shape the County’s data and analytics strategy.
• Work with large-scale datasets and data engineering teams to ensure data is accurate, reliable, and useful.
• Identify opportunities to introduce new technologies, tools, and approaches.
• Help departments build data into the way they plan, operate, and measure success.
• Develop people and capabilities so the County stays on the leading edge of data science.
