Job summary

Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking a Data Scientist Intern to support advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and strategic planning across member growth and branch network strategy. This role involves applying statistics, ML, and spatial analytics to large datasets to forecast demand and generate actionable insights for leadership.

You will work with SQL and Databricks, build reproducible pipelines, and translate results into clear business implications for stakeholders.

Qualifications

Pursuing graduate degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, CS, or Engineering.
Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and predictive modeling.
Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling.
Experience with large datasets using SQL or similar tools.
Ability to structure and analyze complex real-world data problems.

Responsibilities

Develop and evaluate predictive models for member growth, market potential, and branch demand.
Apply statistics and ML techniques to identify drivers of acquisition, engagement, and market value.
Support model validation, performance assessment, and documentation.
Analyze demographic, behavioral, and geographic data to generate market insights.
Collaborate with GIS analysts to incorporate geographic features into models.
Extract, clean, and integrate large datasets from enterprise data platforms (SQL, Databricks).
Build reproducible data pipelines and modeling datasets.
Summarize analytical findings and model outputs for technical and business audiences.
