Job summary

LexisNexis Legal & Professional seeks a data science intern to apply machine learning, generative AI, and data-driven insights to real-world legal content, helping professionals make better decisions using trusted information.

You will learn from experienced data scientists and engineers while contributing to AI-enabled solutions, with hands-on work in data prep, model evaluation, responsible AI, and downstream analytics. Location is on-site in Raleigh, NC for 11–12 weeks starting June 7, 2027.

Qualifications

• Be a currently enrolled student pursuing a related degree.
• Experience with Python, R, and SQL.
• Foundation in statistics and ML.
• Familiar with data visualization and analytics.
• Curious about AI and generative AI.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently or with a team.
• Keen to learn and stay updated on AI trends.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to data collection, cleaning, and documentation for analysis.
• Collaborate with data science, engineering, product, and UX teams to develop and test models.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends and data-quality issues.
• Support experiments involving generative AI and large language models.
• Create visualizations, reports, dashboards, or notebooks communicating insights.
• Document assumptions, limitations and evaluation methods for reproducibility.
