Job summary

RESPEC seeks a Student Engineering Intern – Data Science for its Rapid City, SD office as part of the 2026 Summer Internship Program. The intern will gain hands-on experience in data collection, analysis, and development of large-scale database systems to support engineering staff.

The ideal candidate will have experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to query, analyze, and disposition large datasets, with knowledge of database system design. GIS databases are preferred.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/Eng or related field
• Knowledge of data science, ML, and AI tools and applications
• Strong computing and office software skills

Responsibilities

• Support data collection, analysis, and development of large-scale database systems
• Apply AI/ML tools to query, analyze, and disposition datasets
• Develop scripts with Python, C++, VBA as needed
• Collaborate with experienced staff under supervision
