Job Description: Data Science Analyst

Protagonist is seeking a Data Science Analyst to join their team and help develop their Narrative Analytics offering. You will be responsible for identifying relevant online media conversations, curating powerful datasets, and driving success for Protagonist’s clients.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Work with media content aggregators and deploy data mining tools to develop narrative-rich datasets that meet client needs.
2. Apply advanced NLP machine learning methods to analyze large unstructured text datasets, extract topics, and build classification models.
3. Use querying languages to clean and manipulate datasets.
4. Conduct statistical modeling and predictive analysis to identify trends and insights.
5. Collaborate with case teams to visualize data insights in interactive dashboards that answer client questions.
6. Support the company’s analytics approach and work closely with Client Solutions teammates to deliver Narrative Analytics to customers.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Authorized to work in the US and eligible for US Government contracts.
• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Proven experience leveraging analytics and large datasets to drive impact (BS with relevant internship or Master’s with practical projects).
• Proficiency in R and other statistical programming languages.
• Experience with Python or SQL.
• Strong skills in Excel, including advanced formulas, data cleaning, and pivot tables.
• Deep understanding of data science concepts, especially machine learning and NLP.
• Hands-on experience with statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and classification techniques.
• Experience with predictive modeling techniques such as regression, neural networks, SVMs, and random forests.
• Experience with data visualization platforms like Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or QuickSight.
• Ability to apply data analysis to communication, marketing, and business strategies.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Capable of meeting tight deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.
