Job summary

Symfa Inc in the United States is seeking a detail-oriented Middle Data Quality Engineer / Business Analyst to join a project modernizing a legacy data platform on Azure Synapse Analytics. You will collaborate with Data Engineers to rebuild data pipelines, validate Bronze-Silver-Gold layers, and ensure data quality across migration from SQL/Access-based systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in data quality assurance or ETL/data testing.
• Experience validating data between source and target systems.
• Knowledge of data quality dimensions: completeness, accuracy, consistency, uniqueness and validity.
• Ability to write and optimize SQL queries for data validation and reconciliation.
• Experience in data migration testing or ETL/ELT testing.
• Ability to document test cases and results clearly for developers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive test scenarios and test cases for migrated data.
• Validate Bronze-layer data against source systems for accuracy.
• Perform source-to-target data reconciliation across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
• Check record counts, field values, transformations, and data completeness.
• Investigate data discrepancies between source and target systems.
• Define validation rules and acceptance criteria for data migration.
• Maintain test evidence and document all test results.
• Update technical and testing documentation throughout the project.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers and Lead Data Engineer to resolve issues.
• Participate in defect analysis, retesting, and regression testing as needed.
