Job summary

Bowhead Specialty, partnering with American Family, is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support data-focused testing efforts in an agile environment. You will design and execute data quality tests for ETL pipelines and data warehouses, blending manual and automated approaches.

You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and business analysts to validate data accuracy, lineage, and governance, while contributing to test strategy and documenting results.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of software testing experience.
• Experience with agile development practices.
• Experience with manual testing.
• Experience with automation testing.
• Proficiency writing SQL and working with relational databases.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and Jira.

Responsibilities

• Develop data process and control improvements with data design.
• Design, develop, and execute test plans for data pipelines and ETL.
• Validate data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity across systems.
• Identify, document, and track data quality issues with engineering.
• Perform data profiling and statistical analysis to detect anomalies.
• Create and maintain automated data quality tests using SQL.
• Develop data validation rules and monitoring for ongoing checks.
• Conduct regression testing for database changes and pipeline mods.
• Validate data transformations and calculations against requirements.
• Partner with data architects to establish data quality standards.
